dbExpress Driver for MySQL Overview
dbExpress is a database-independent layer that defines common interface to provide fast access to MySQL from Delphi and C++Builder on Windows and Mac OS X for both 32-bit and 64-bit platforms. For this server, dbExpress provides a driver as an independent library that implements the common dbExpress interface for processing queries and stored procedures. As data-access layer is thin and simple, dbExpress provides high performance database connectivity and is easy to deploy. You can use our driver in the same way as the one supplied by Embarcadero.
dbExpress driver for MySQL provides access to MySQL database. It can work using native MySQL network protocol or MySQL client. If you do not use Direct mode, MySQL client library is required.
Native Connectivity to MySQL
Applications based on dbExpress Driver for MySQL are easy to deploy, do not require installation of other data provider layers (such as BDE or ODBC), and that's why they can work faster than the ones based on standard Delphi data connectivity solutions. Moreover, dbExpress Driver for MySQL provides an additional opportunity to work with MySQL directly without involving MySQL client library.
Cross-Platform Solution for Delphi and C++Builder
dbExpress Driver for MySQL is a cross-platform solution for developing applications using various IDEs: RAD Studio, Delphi and C++Builder on Windows and Mac OS X for both x86 and x64 platforms. dbExpress Driver for MySQL also provides support for the FireMonkey platform, which allows you to develop visually spectacular high-performance native applications for Windows and Mac OS X.
